Jim Byrd, founder of Byrd’s Automotive, grew up in Tennessee in a time when a handshake and a man’s word were as sound as a legal document. He began his career as a pipeline worker traveling around the country, then decided to return to Tennessee and try his hand at sales. In 1979, he stocked his truck with mechanics tools and headed to Nashville providing sales and service to auto repair shops and repairmen.

As his business relationships grew, Jim saw an opportunity to focus on the auto body and collision repair industry so he decided to add automotive paint to his product line and a new business was born: Byrd’s Automotive opened its doors on 2608 Grissom Drive in Nashville in 1988. We’ve been delivering quality products and exceptional service ever since, earning the respect and friendship of our customers along the way.

Today, Byrd’s Automotive operates twelve locations in four states and serves more than 1000 collision repair customers. Our 50+ employees have a combination of more than 625 years of industry experience and our sales and technical professionals continue to stay current with industry standards, certifications and best practices by participating in an impressive array of learning resources provided by our business partners, I-Car, the Tennessee Collision Repair Association, ASE and several others.
